1 Initial Problem

Badges are commonly used as Part of motivation in learning progress. The implementation of Badges in ILIAS aren’t transparent to other users. In consequence the motivational potential for other users isn‘t working. Displaying Badges in Course Member Gallery could solve two problems:
  • Displaying Badges, so other course members are willing to achieve these too
  • Showing Badges possible to earn to every member in course instead of the case, that only course admin could see all possible Badges

2 Conceptual Summary

When to Display:
  • The Badges should be displayed, in Course Member Gallery
    • All achieved Badges in the particular course should be displayed
    • If no Badges is earned so far, no Label should be displayed
  • The settings should have a particular checkbox for enabling the feature
    • Opt out or opt in by administration default
What to Display:
  • The Badges earned in particular course by the several course Member
  • Label: course related Badges (Kursbezogene Badges)
How to Display:
  • Badges sorted by title (see discussion)
    • same Badges earned --> same View
